Baltimore Washington International will see a $100 million expansion

Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport is set to undergo a $100 million expansion that will add direct passenger access between concourses A, B, and C and about 8,500 square feet of food and retail space.

The announcement comes as BWI continues to see record traffic. More than 2.2 million passengers arrived on flights to Baltimore in July 2011, the highest amount for any single month in the airport’s history.

Design plans have already been approved by the Maryland Board of Public Works but construction plans still need to be discussed at a December 7 panel meeting.

If all goes according to plan, the project could be completed by the end of 2013.
