The day before Thanksgiving is the busiest day of the travel year, with more than 1.5 million Americans taking to the skies this holiday weekend. However this year many are more annoyed with the process of going through security than actually flying as concerns over TSA body scanners and pat-downs heats up.

Airports nationwide are preparing for a possible "National Opt-Out Day" by travelers, which means many will declinegoing through the controversial scanners for the slower TSA pat-down procedure.

Despite the recent uproar from various rights groups, the head of the TSA stands firmly behind both the machines and the pat-downs and says they are here to stay for the forseeable future. However the TSA did announced earlier in the week they will work on making the pat-downs less invasive.

Chances are you will not even see a scanner during your turkey day travels, as only a small percentage of airports currently offer them. In addition, less than three percent of airports are using the enhanced pat-down procesure.

Backlash on both procedures has caused many TSA agents to complain that passengers are being extremely rude to them during security screening. The TSA says that they plan to do everything in their power to keep delays down and to understand that agents are only doing their job to make air travel safer.

So, what are your thoughts on the brouhaha over body scanners and pat-downs? Do you prefer one over the other? Why? Leave a comment below on how you plan to be screened when flying this Thanksgiving.
