BA and Iberia gain in latest quarter

With the merger of British Airways and Spain's Iberia Lineas Aereas de Espana scheduled to be completed by early 2011, the airlines announced positive news Friday that both would be reporting a profit for the latest quarter.  

BA reported a net profit of $170.5 million in the six
months ending September 30. That is much better than the massive $346 million it lost the same time period a year
earlier.

Iberia, meanwhile reported a third-quarter net profit of $103.1 million, which is also a much better outcome than the $25.5 million net loss it suffered last year.
