Black Eyed Peas NYC Concert in Central Park is Back On CheapOair Staff August 18, 2011 general The Black Eyed Peas will be back in Central Park September 30 On June 9, the Black Eyed Peas left thousands of tourists and native New Yorkers soggy and disappointed when they called off their Central Park concert due to inclement weather. However, BEP are attempting to redeem themselves with a re-scheduled concert set to rock the Great Lawn on September 30. The band’s front man, will.i.am, announced the new concert in a joint press conference with Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Wednesday. During the press conference, the Mayor hailed Central Park concerts as an integral part of New York City’s summer economy, citing successful Park performances from Bon Jovi and Simon & Garfunkel. Bloomberg went on to joke that he would do everything in his power to ensure the city enjoys blue skies and temperatures in the mid-70s this time around. Would-be concert-goers who secured free tickets to the June 9 show will get first crack at tickets for the newly announced September 30 concert. However, fans hoping to catch the other acts scheduled to take the stage June 9 (including Taylor Swift, Tony Bennett, Carole King, and LL Cool J) shouldn’t be hopping on flights to New York City just yet. Right now, the Black Eyed Peas are the only performers to sign on to the re-scheduled event. Source: New York Times CC Flickr photo credit: Walmart Stores
