You may have already heard about the Real ID Act initiated in 2005 in response to the 9/11 Commission’s recommendation. With Phase 4 officially beginning on January 22, 2018, the deadline for all travelers to have Real ID-compliant identification is soon approaching. Before you know it, it will be time to head to the DMV and make sure that your driver’s license is up to par….especially if you’re taking any cheap flights in May.  If not, there are other routes you can take to make sure you’re complying with these new rules.
