American Airlines’ Workers to Vote on Strike CheapOair Staff July 2, 2010 general American Airlines’ workers to vote on strike The Transport Workers Union instructed its locals Thursday to carry out a strike vote among American Airlines fleet service clerks and ground workers, with that the National Mediation Board will announce an impasse and allow a walkout. The union tossed out a tentative agreement with American on Monday and renewed its call for the NMB to release the union from additional mediation. That would create a 30-day cooling-off period, after which the union could strike. The Deputy Director of TWU’s Air Transport Division said the union believes the board could provide it with a release “as early as September,” which would mean a possible strike in October.
