American Airlines to Launch Flights from L.A. to Shanghai CheapOair Staff October 1, 2010 general American Airlines to launch L.A. to Shanghai service Today, American Airlines requested authority to launch nonstop flights from Los Angeles International Airport to Pudong International Airport in Shanghai, China beginning April 5, 2011. The new service would be the only nonstop flights between Los Angeles and Shanghai operated by a U.S. airline. “Los Angeles-Shanghai is the largest U.S. – China market for air travel and we believe it is in the public’s best interest to offer more air service between the two cities…” said Will Ris, American’s Senior Vice President – Government Affairs.
