American Airlines Testing ‘Self-Tagging’ Bags at Austin Airport CheapOair Staff March 11, 2011 general American Airlines announced a six-month trial of letting travelers tag their own luggage Thursday. Up until this point, self-tagging in the U.S. was only done by airline agents. The trial run will be conducted at Austin airport. Travelers will be able to print their tags from kiosks without being shadowed by an airline agent. However, people will still have to wait in a line to see an agent for tag validation and an ID check. Agents will still be available should you have any questions about self-tagging. Self-tagging will also be tested by Alaska Airlines and Air Canada according to the report by USA Today.
