American Airlines Announces Recall of Flight Attendants for Second Time This Month CheapOair Staff February 18, 2011 general The good news continues for American Airlines in February American Airlines, the nation’s third largest carrier, announced Friday that it will recall an additional 200 furloughed flight attendants. The airline said it will also seek to hire 30 new attendants who speak Mandarin Chinese. The announcement comes on the heels of a similar recall made public on February 9. The demand for more workers is a positive sign for the recovering airline industry, as many seek to begin operating at pre-recession levels in the near future. According to the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics, employment for U.S airlines rose 0.2 percent in December. That marked the first monthly increase since June 2008. Source: Bloomberg
