AAA Anticipates More Fourth of July Travel This Year CheapOair Staff June 23, 2010 Trending Stories With the economy improving AAA predicts higher travel this July 4th AAA Southern New England said Fourth of July travel in New England is probably going to outpace travel levels nationwide because more than 1.7 million New Englanders are projected to take some sort of trip over the three-day weekend. Because of the recovering economy, both regional and national estimates are up this year, AAA Southern New England said. AAA said it is predicting the number of Americans traveling this Fourth of July weekend will increase 17.1 percent from 2009, with about 34.9 million people traveling at minimum 50 miles away from home.
