The bidding process for 2012 Olympic tickets is now closed and officials in London are reporting impressive demand from the public.

Some 20 million bids were placed on tickets by over 1.8 million people. Applications were received for all sports and across all price points.

Sebastian Coe, chair of the London Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, expressed his pleasure over such high demand for tickets.

“What is most encouraging is that the majority of applications are for multiple tickets and for several sports, which shows that friends and family are planning to go to the Games together,” he said.

Hopeful applicants will find out exactly which tickets they have won in early June.
