Forget private islands in the Pacific or the Betty Ford Center, a compound in remote Abbottabad, Pakistan has proved to be the ideal travel destination for reclusive celebs looking to avoid the limelight.

Conveniently located 35 miles north of the Pakistani capital, Islamabad (not making a pun on that name), it took the world's most powerful military years to track down the world's most wanted man to a compound here. So imagine how long it would've taken measly photographers from Us Weekly!

The New York Times described the Abbottabad property as "a mansion on the outskirts of the town’s center, set on an imposing hilltop and ringed by 12-foot-high concrete walls topped with barbed wire."

It also estimated the compound's value at $1 million, quite a steep price for that part of the world—and clearly more luxurious than bunking in a damp cave.
The compound also has ample space to land a private helicopter or two (or three if your second one breaks).

It's also about 800 yards from the Pakistan Military Academy, meaning guests with deep pockets can likely be afforded ample protections.
And while Abbottabad is not on the water, it's close enough that if you die while on vacation there, a sea burial is a practical option.
Some caveats, to maximize your privacy include:

• don't use a courier service
• empty your trash rather than burning it, so you don't arouse suspicioun
• connect phone and Internet service, so their absence doesn't seem conspicious
