Every year, from September 15th to October 15th, almost 60 million of US residents celebrate the accomplishments, history, and legacy of the Hispanic community in America. Being the largest minority in the country, Hispanic contributions to arts, politics, and culture are regarded as an unmistakable part of the United States’ identity.

First observed as a single week, it was former President Ronald Reagan who decided in 1988 to widen the celebrations a whole month, kicking off at a date when many Latin American nations declared their independence.
