First, take yourself to the sauna or the hot tub for a bit before jumping into the freezing water. It’s actually quite enjoyable … right after your body adjusts to the icy water. Naturally, the body’s adrenaline boosts once you run from the hot sauna to the ice-cold water giving you enough energy to last the entire day! Go Dog Sledding in Norway

Norway’s Huskies are ready for you to hop on a dog sled and take you on a journey through this picturesque winter wonderland! But, it’s not easy for these snow-loving pups to take groups of travelers through the tough Nordic winter, but thankfully their muscle power makes it all possible. And the best part of the dog sled tour is the views of the northern lights from places like Tromsø or Svalbard.

Try Ice Caving In Iceland

It’s probably one of the coolest things a tourist can do while visiting Iceland during the winter months. Explore incredible crystal blue caves in Icelandic glaciers while ice-caving. If you’re an adventurer, this one’s for you! You can find the glaciers and tours in Vatnajokull in southeast Iceland and Langjokull in southwest Iceland. Stay at the Icehotel in Sweden

WARNING: Hotel stays WILL be cold! If you’re taking a trip to the Nordic region during the winter and are in pursuit of the ultimate winter experience then we recommend you book a stay in an ice hotel. It may come across as an insane idea at first, being that the entire interior and exterior is made of snow and ice. The frozen interior will be kept at around 20 degrees Fahrenheit so brace yourself for a cold night. Although these snowy hotels can be found in Finland and Norway, the idea originally flowered in Sweden. And if you’re not that daring to sleep in the cold, the good part about the Ice Hotel in Sweden is that you can choose to also stay in a warm room. The hotel recommends a one-night stay in a cold room for a different experience and then move to a warm room for the rest of your stay.

Snowmobile in Helsinki

Put on your helmet and prepare for a thrilling ride through the snowy trails in Helsinki! You can take your gang along on a snowmobile tour and learn about the surrounding areas. Be sure to dress warmly as the snowmobiles are speedy and frigid air and wind will surely hit your face. And wherever you are in the Nordic, inquire about going on a snowmobile tour (as they’re very popular throughout), it’s all the rage!

Ice Sailing in Sweden

You may have participated in this water activity during the hot summer months but sailing on a frozen body of water with winds pushing you at high speeds may just take it up a notch! Ice sailing in Sweden is a popular yet riveting activity and it’s pretty simple to learn. But don’t let the ice fool you, the fastest iceboats can reach speeds of up to 80 mph in high winds.
