Check out our list of the top spots to visit in Iceland! Reykjavik (rake-ya-vick) A trip to Iceland would be incomplete without a visit to Reykjavik, Iceland’s capital and largest city. For all the party animals out there, a trip in the summer might be just for you! Because the sun doesn’t set throughout the entire season, Reykjavik’s epic nightlife stretches into the early hours of the morning! For the more mellow folks, not to worry. Located right on the coastline, Reykjavik is filled with incredible landscapes and vibrant culture. Make sure to check out the Hallgrímskirkja (Hall-grins-Kirk-ya; a modern cathedral), Geysir (the original geyser after which all others are named), the spectacular waterfalls at Gullfoss, and the stunning Blue Lagoon. Húsavík (HOO-sa-vik) The site of Iceland’s first settlement, Húsavík is filled with rich Viking history. This isn’t its only claim to fame. Húsavík is also an awesome spot for whale watching. For nature lovers, this city also provides the perfect opportunity to explore a bunch of excellent hiking trails all year round (yes, even in the snowy Iceland winter!). Seyðisfjörður (Say-dis-four-door) Seyðisfjörður is the perfect slice of paradise. The contrast of its multicolored wooded houses, cascading waterfalls, and snowcapped mountains is truly extraordinary.
