Not for the faint of heart, zip lining is a great way to get your adrenaline pumping and experience nature while traveling. While you can find zip lining opportunities in almost every locale nowadays – including the much-hyped, soon-to-be-opened zip line at Niagara Falls (we can’t wait to try it!) – there are some high-flying adventures that simply surpass the rest. From Wales to Cambodia to Utah, here are our top seven recommendations to fly high over breathtaking landscapes:

Toro Verde, Puerto Rico

Located about an hour outside of San Juan, Toro Verde nature park offers a spectacular views and thrilling zip line rides. Dubbed Toro La Bestia, the face down zip line takes you flying (at speeds up to 60 mph) through a 4,745-foot-long-long rainforest valley.

Skyline Tour, Hawaii

America’s first zip line, Skyline Tour, was started by a father-and-son duo in 2002, and it’s still going strong. Located on the way to the Haleakala Crater summit (on the island of Maui), these five zip lines take you on a high-flying adventure through forests and hiking trails. There’s even a series of swinging bridges if your heart can take more action!

Miss Sky Canopy Tour, Costa Rica

If you want to experience the world’s longest zip lining tour (a thrilling 7 miles), then you’d better head to Nosara, Costa Rica. Comprised of 21 runs (most of which are at least 1,500 feet long) several hundred feet above the ground, the Miss Sky Canopy Tour takes you through a stunning forest preserve that’s home to howler monkeys and breathtaking waterfalls. After all of that action, you’ll want to unwind with a drink at the final stop (which conveniently happens to be a disco bar).

Flight of the Gibbon, Cambodia

History and thrills – what could be better than that? Situated within the Angkor Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that’s also home to the Angkor Wat Temple, Flight of the Gibbon is a 10-line zip line course with four sky bridges. You’ll be high up in the trees – the perfect spot to commune with gibbons – the cute monkeys that inhabit the forest.

SkyRider Zipline Tour, New York

The SkyRider Zipline Tour is located on Hunter Mountain, approximately two hours north of New York City. You’ll need to take a chair lift high up into the Catskills so that you can zip line all the way down. With over 4 miles of cables and speeds up to 50 mph, the longest canopy tour in America is about as thrilling as it gets.

Xtreme ZipRider, Utah

Thrill seekers will want to head to Utah’s Olympic Park to experience the steepest zip line in America (and one of the steepest in the world) with an average grade of 34%. The 1,500-ft Xtreme ZipRider will take you on a 60 mph drop of 500 feet. Yikes… I mean, fun!

Zip World Snowdonia, Wales

Who knew Wales was the place to go for adventure in the UK? Snowdonia National Park at Penrhyn Quarry (which was once the biggest slate quarry in the world) is home to the longest zip line in Europe (almost a mile), Zip World Snowdonia. Not only is it long, it’s also super fast, with speeds of up to 100 mph.
