How come? It’s giving us some crazy travel inspiration! Sure, the music is great, but have you seen some of these artists’ hometowns? From Adele, who hails from London, to Bruno Mars, whose hometown is in Hawaii, we’ve got a ton of Grammys inspired travel destinations to point you to. In the award show’s spirit, we’ve broken this down by award category, if you will. We’re pretty sure they’re all winners! 1.) Bruno Mars – Honolulu, HI cleanfotos / Shutterstock Bruno Mars’ album Uptown Funk was nominated for record of the year, and we’re nominating Bruno’s hometown as one of 2016’s destinations of the year! Known for his smooth voice, doo-wop and jazz influences, Bruno’s chilled out sound was developed while he was growing up in Honolulu, Hawaii. Not only is Honolulu the island state’s capital city, it’s also an incredibly popular vacation spot. From its pristine beaches and art galleries to its museums and romantic sunsets, Honolulu has something for everyone. Make sure you’re listening to Uptown Funk as you lounge on the beach! 2.) Taylor Swift – Nashville, TN Sean Pavone / Shutterstock Among the nominees for this year’s Album of the Year is America’s sweetheart, Taylor Swift. The international pop star—and notorious girl squad leader—hails from Nashville, Tennessee. It’s a pretty cool town to visit! Our own #ElinatheExplorer was there last weekend, and had a great time roaming the central strip of bars and music halls. Nashville is home to several country music stars—in addition to TSwift—as well as the Country Music Hall of Fame. If you plan to do some city site seeing, make sure to check out Centennial Park and the Johnny Cash Museum. Yee-haw! 3.) Ed Sheeran – London, England SurangaSL / Shutterstock We might just be Thinking Out Loud, but we’re pretty sure that Ed Sheeran is one of the coolest nominees in the Song of the Year category. Need some inspiration to plan a trip to his native city of London, England? London is one of the most visited European cities—and for good reason. Between Big Ben, The London Eye, and Buckingham Palace, London will keep you busy for as long as you care to stay! 4.) Meghan Trainor – Nantucket, MA Allan Wood Photography / Shutterstock Meghan Trainor is “all about that bass,” and we’re all about that travel! Trainor is up for the Best New Artist award, and her hometown of Nantucket, Massachusetts is up for a best weekend getaway award in our books (unofficially, of course). Nantucket is located on a small island off the coast of Massachusetts, and it’s a perfect spring and summer getaway destination. If you love small towns, friendly folks, and crystal clear New England beaches, Nantucket makes for the perfect weekend getaway or day trip! The island is mostly bike accessible with several scenic routes, so just hop on bam, “your hips are movin’!” These artists’ hometowns are just as inspiring as their music!
