According to the U.K.’s Telegraph, New Zealand could very well be voted the best place to live, for the fourth consecutive year!

One of the most beautiful places in the world, New Zealand offers varied and stunningly unspoiled landscapes, a beautiful climate, and welcoming people! If you’re thinking about heading off to the southern hemisphere any time soon, look no further! (sorry Australia!)

Auckland

Auckland, on the North Island, is the largest city in the country and one of its best known attractions is the Sky Tower. Tour the observation and telecommunication deck to enjoy panoramic views of the city at over 1000 feet up, then, if your stomach can handle it, dine in the revolving restaurant. If you’re more of the adventurous type and want to take your experience to the edge you can bungee jump from the top of the tower for a thrilling experience you’ll never forget!

Back on the ground; visit the nearby Auckland Art Gallery, perfect for those who appreciate both national and international art. This facility has been open to the public since 1887 and offers you the chance to view over 15,000 works of art!

New Zealand is known for its rich scenery and outdoor landscapes, but is also a mecca for outdoor activities! The South Island is home to three different ski areas and also features many quality wineries and restaurants, and for those who prefer the turquoise waters of New Zealand, choose between kayaking, sailing, white-water rafting, surfing, or diving.

World famous Milford Sound is a must-see when visiting New Zealand. Climb aboard a tour boat and prepare to be transported to another world. The site features prominently in the Lord of the Rings movies, but as you drift along the calm waters, you may not encounter too many Hobbits or dragons—you’re more likely to see waterfalls, minerals, seals on the rocks, and maybe even some penguins!

Don’t forget to make time for the incredible underwater observatory for the perfect way to get up close and personal with the local marine life.

Lake Taupo is another awesome location that should be explored on the North Island. Choose to backpack through the area, or do a spot of rafting, before climbing aboard a steamboat to view the full majesty of the largest lake in the country.

Bay of Islands

At the very top of the North Island, and made up of over 140 subtropical islands, Bay of Islands is a well-known site that has a rich history and breathtaking beauty. Learn about the Maori culture, dive the crystal clear waters, then enjoy authentic local cuisine at the Bay of Islands Towns district.

North or South, New Zealand is a spectacular country offering visitors the chance to enjoy adventure, scenery, culture, and some of the friendliest folks on the planet.
