Sean Pavone / ShutterstockMountains, Mustaches, and MAD Shopping: 5 Must-See Spots this November! Brian Lees November 1, 2016 Adventure Travel, Arts & History, Beach Vacations, Family Travel, Food & Drink, Interests Welcome to November, everybody! The penultimate month of the year, and my personal favorite! (It’s my birthday!) Boasting its own special turkey infused day and leading us all into the festive season of food, family movies, and gifts—this month just rocks! But did you also know that November is one of the best months to travel? If you’re thinking of catching a parade in New York, soaking in a relaxing hot spring, or perhaps even trying out some facial hair, then check out November’s best to add even more spice to your month! 1.) If You Love Mountains and Sushi! Prasit Rodphan / Shutterstock Interested in something a little different this November? Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park in Japan can offer you unrivaled views of breathtaking fall colors against the awesome backdrop of Mount Fuji. Located just sixty miles from the metropolis of Tokyo, and surrounded by beautiful park settings and lakes, this area is famous for its abundance of hot springs! (I know where I want to go for my birthday now!) Mid-November is peak season for foliage, making this the perfect time of year to explore nearby Lake Kawaguchiko or Chureito Pagoda and snap some amazing pictures to show off when you get home. But before you go—don’t forget to soak in that hot spring you’ve always dreamed of! Ahhhhh! 2.) Mo-vember! Sunny studio / Shutterstock Welcome to the “hairiest” month of the year! Throughout November, men, women, and children (and pets) are encouraged to grow mustaches in observance of men’s health, through charitable contributions to the Movember Foundation. Hirsute happenings take place all across the world, but for a great way to feel good and support this cause, head over to Los Angeles, California to participate in the annual Mustache Dache and don’t forget to wear your ‘tache with pride! (If you can’t grow one – glue one!) This fun filled 5K sets off early on the morning of Movember 22nd, leaving you plenty of time to pack the carbs back on at Thanksgiving! Cranberry flavored mustache anyone? Mmm – Movember! 3.) It’s a mad, mad, mad, mad mall! Elena Ray / Shutterstock We all know what happens the day after Thanksgiving, don’t we? Yup—at the stroke of midnight, stores across the land throw open their doors and slash their prices for Black Friday bargains! Woo-hoo! Can’t you just hear those festive cash registers jingling and ring ting tingaling too? This November, why not treat yourself to a live show, a bucket o’ coins on the slots, and some guilt free shopping (what happens in the mall—stays in the mall, right?) in any of the ten or so fabulous shopping outlets dotted around Las Vegas, Nevada! Reputedly some of THE highest profit malls in the country, these shopping paradises will gladly separate you from your dollar, but they’ll do it in real Vegas style! Check out the huge Forum Shops at Caesar’s and don’t miss the deals of the season at both the North and South Las Vegas Premium Outlets! After a hard day’s shopping, you can sleep soundly knowing that you’re doing your bit for our economy! 4.) Muy Calido! lorenzobovi / Shutterstock Of course for many of us, November brings cold weather—so what better time to discover warm sunshine, beaches, and never ending ocean views than in the Canary Islands! Located off the south coast of Morocco, they’re actually one of the most popular tourist destinations of Spain. Not sure where to start? Start your trip on Tenerife, the largest of the seven Canary Islands. Known as the Island of Eternal Spring, due to its year round warmth, the northern coastline offers volcanic black sand, whilst the southern beaches are lighter in color and finer in texture. Local nightlife and resort activities slow down after the summer peak season, but with balmy temperatures and warm oceans all year round, there’s still plenty to enjoy in this island getaway, even in November! Take in the amazing volcanic landscape of Teide National Park and say hola to the Tenerife lizards who’ll come right up to you looking for bananas! Later on, party hard in the hotspots of Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos, before sleeping it off on any one of the many manicured beaches the next morning! With this being an off-peak month, you’ll also save a few bucks on travel and accommodation, leaving more to spend on souvenirs! Now, I give that a ten out of Ten-erife! 5.) Everybody Loves a Parade! “Thanksgiving Day Parade” by martha_chapa95 is licensed under CC BY 2.0 Appropriately enough, we’re rounding off this guide with a traditional end of November parade! For some, Thanksgiving is all about the food, for some it’s all about the back-to-back-to-back football games on TV, but for millions, it’s all about the parade. There are events taking place all across America this month, but if you’re looking for the biggest and the baddest, head over to New York City to join literally millions of revelers lining the streets, to cheer on marching bands, top musical acts, the Rockettes, Broadway performers, and of course, the procession of balloon characters floating down 6th Avenue! Pick your favorite (mine’s Snoopy) and be sure to cheer the loudest when it passes by! That’s November, folks! Let us know where you’re traveling this month in the comments section below, especially if you’re hitting any of our top five November destinations!
