Plan Smart GaudiLab/Shutterstock First of all, it’s never too early to book your flight. If and when you see a sweet deal pop up, take advantage of it! Waiting around for a better deal could leave you without a flight home. Planners are the best, guys. Seriously. If you’re trying to save some money, consider traveling on Thanksgiving. We know, this may not sound ideal at first, but think about it. Everyone is trying to get home the day before Thanksgiving, so that’s when airports are the busiest, flight prices are up, and delays are almost inevitable. If you wait until Thanksgiving morning to travel, you could save some big bucks (and some stress along the way, too). On the way back, try to avoid Sunday. Instead, try to head out early on Saturday, or leave on Monday, if possible. If you have to travel the day before Thanksgiving (the more likely case) and on Sunday, just be sure to arrive at the airport early. Nothing’s worse than missing your flight! Pack Light ISchmidt/Shutterstock We’ve told you this before, but we cannot stress it enough—less is more. What’s worse than lugging a big bag around? Losing it. With so many people traveling at once, it’s fairly easy to fall victim to lost luggage this time of year. Don’t let this happen to you! Since it’s likely you’ll only away for the long weekend, just bring a carry-on! You’ll be with family—wear the same outfit twice. No one will judge you. If you’re going away for a longer period of time, just be sure to have a luggage tag on your checked bag. This way, if you bag does get lost, they’ll be able to contact you right away. Get Away – Somewhere Other Than Home! BlueOrange Studio/Shutterstock Yes, there’s no place like home, but it’s really about who you’re with, not where you are—right? Why not plan a trip somewhere new for the weekend? Plan a relaxing beach vacation to Florida, or head somewhere cozy, like Vermont. Whether you’re staying at a hotel, a resort, or renting a cabin for the weekend, you’ll be with the ones you love! If you really want to get away, your familial home can always wait until next year. Bonus points to a Thanksgiving vacation? NO COOKING. Make a reservation at your hotel restaurant or somewhere nearby—there are plenty of restaurants that have special Thanksgiving menus and specials. YUM! Go Mobile! Maridav/Shutterstock When you’re on the go, there’s nothing more frustrating than having to deal with lugging around your laptop. A super easy way to check your flight status is through your phone. With the right app, you’ll be able to see flight delays and everything you need to know before you leave for the airport. Flight delayed? No problem. Just chill at home for a little longer, then get to the airport. This way, you won’t spend a longer amount of time at the airport than you have to. Phew! What a stress reliever. Now you’re ready to travel this Thanksgiving—we believe in you! Happy travels and Happy Thanksgiving! What are your travel plans this Thanksgiving? Heading home?
