Folks, I hate to break it to you.

But there are absolutely no cool places to travel to this month. April showers are dominating the world, so you might as well just stay home until those May flowers kick in.

APRIL FOOL’s! I’m just kidding.

Oh, come on. You didn’t really fall for that one, did you?

Of course you didn’t! Because obviously every month is a good month to travel, because traveling is the best. And April is a particularly fun time to jet set around the globe, due to smaller crowds, cheaper airfares, and happy spring weather.

Don’t believe me? Prepare to be amazed. Behold, some of the best spots around the world to hit this April. Bon voyage!

1.) If You Just Can’t Get Enough Celebrity News from the Internet

Dreaming of Hollywood glitz and glamour this April? You’re in luck. It’s the perfect time of year to hit Southern California. Crowds aren’t too heavy, smog levels are lower, and the temperatures are perfect.

Start off in the City of Angels, where you can see the famous Hollywood sign, cruise the beaches, and even take a tour of celebrity homes! If you’re traveling with kiddos, pop over to the original Disneyland. Looking for a road trip? Drive up the Pacific Coast Highway, or drop into one of the numerous national parks that surround the city.

Want to go a little further afield? Head inland to Indio, where the annual Coachella festival is happening. It’s one of the largest, most awesome music festivals in the U.S.—and it’s conveniently located for a daytrip to Palm Springs! Rock on, California.

2.) If You’re Adventurous and Want to Get Off the Beaten Path

Most of Asia is uncomfortably hot and humid this time of year, but not the Philippines! Wrapping up its dry season this month, April is the perfect time to island hop to your heart’s desire, all while avoiding the crowds and the typhoons. Now that’s a sweet deal.

Not sure what there is to do in the Philippines? Understandable—it’s still a bit off the beaten path for many tourists. But that won’t last long. With its gorgeous rice fields, freakishly symmetrical mountains, and incredible scuba diving opportunities, the Philippines is quickly being added to many travelers’ bucket lists.

So what are you waiting for? You could be swimming with whale sharks this month. GET ON THAT.

3.) If You’re a Perfectionist, Because the Mediterranean in April is Actual Perfection

OK, yes, I get it. This is a region and not a destination. But April in the Mediterranean is perfect—too perfect to leave any of its many cities out.

While spring is arriving fashionably late this year for many of us—here’s a shout out to chilly New York—it’s already in full swing along the Mediterranean. Beaming sunshine, crystal blue skies, and perfect temperatures make this an ideal place to plan your next vacation.

Not sure where to go? Some highlights include Barcelona, Marseille, Rome, and Athens—but if you’re looking to get further off the beaten path, try islands like Mallorca, Sicily, or Mykonos. The Turkish coast is also beautiful this time of year, with beach towns like Adana just waiting to show you the best April trip you’ve ever taken.

4.) If You Love the Middle East But Not Its Typically Insane Heat

A bit south of the Mediterranean you’ll find the Moroccan city of Marrakech, and goodness is this a good time of year to visit. As the spring and summer continues, this desert city will get unbearably hot—but in April, temperatures are hovering around a comfortable 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Perfect!

In addition to the gorgeous weather, Marrakech is just plain awesome, so you’ll have lots of things to do. Check out El Badi Palace, the old mosques that are scattered all around the city, and Djemma el Fna, one of Marrakech’s oldest markets. It’s been named a “Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity” by UNESCO, so clearly, it’s a pretty sweet place to spend your April vacation.

If you’re looking for a taste of the Middle East this month—while avoiding ridiculous temperatures or safety concerns—Morocco is the place to do it.

5.) If You’re a Tulip-Loving Party Animal

There is literally no better time to go to Amsterdam than April. So drop everything and head out to the Venice of the North, as it’s lovingly called, because this is where it’s AT.

Despite its northerly location, springtime in Amsterdam has not taken its sweet time arriving. It’s here, it’s happy, and it’s ready to party. Go enjoy the sunshine and the comfortable temperatures.

In addition to blue skies and its permanent bevy of gorgeous canals, April in Amsterdam means the city’s famous tulips are in full bloom, a number of film and music festivals are breezing through town, and the annual King’s Day celebration is in order. Held on April 27, it’s the most colorful festival in the Netherlands, and one of the best parties in Europe. You obviously need to jump on the alliteration train and spend April in Amsterdam at once.

April is awesome, am I right? I’m about to drop everything and get on a plane right now, thinking of all the cool travel opportunities. Where are you headed this month? Let us know in the comments!
