Good news if you’re traveling this Labor Day weekend: CheapOair booking data shows you can expect to pay an average of $307 roundtrip for a domestic U.S. flight. International airfare is also down 6 percent this year, making travel to beach destinations in Mexico and the Caribbean more attractive if you’re looking to get the best value for the last long weekend of the summer season.

A decrease in demand to popular U.S. destinations means lower airfares this September. Airfare prices are based on availability, so more available seats creates more savings for you. Flights to Florida, for example, are a bargain this Labor Day, with roundtrip airfare to Orlando, Tampa and Fort Lauderdale just $269, $276 and $310, respectively.

The summer months are off-peak for Mexico and the Caribbean, so you’ll find it more affordable to enjoy the beach over Labor Day as opposed to later in the winter. Trending this Labor Day is St. Thomas, which surpassed Cancun in terms of booking growth this year compared to last year. The average cost of a flight to the island is only $278 roundtrip. Other popular international spots with an average airfare under $500 roundtrip include The Bahamas, San Jose Cabo and Aruba.
