Singapore Airlines was awarded best airline for 2009 by OAG

 

 

Red carpet…“A-List” celebrities…paparazzi…free swag…Joan Rivers…late night after parties. These are the many things you will not see at the annual OAG Airline Industry Awards. London-based OAG, which collects and distributes aviation related data, presented the 27th annual “Oscars of the Airline Industry” for 2009 and here are some of the big winners:

 

OAG Airline of the Year 2009: Singapore Airlines (Runners-up: British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Virgin Atlantic)

 

Best Airline based in North America: Continental Airlines (Runners-up: Air Canada, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines)

 

Best Transatlantic Airline: Virgin Atlantic (Runners-up: British Airways, Continental Airlines, Lufthansa, United Airlines)

 

Best Economy/Coach Class: British Airways (Runners-up: American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Korean Air, Singapore Airlines)

 

Best Executive/Business Class: Continental Airlines (Runners-up:  British Airways, Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Virgin Atlantic)

 

Best International First Class: Singapore Airlines (Runners-up: American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Emirates)

 

Best International First Class: Singapore Airlines (Runners-up: American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Emirates)

 

Best Airport: Singapore Changi (Runners-up: Amsterdam Schiphol, Dubai International, Kuala Lumpur International)
