For Day 2 of a London family itinerary, there are many great kid activities and venues within a short seven-mile distance.   At any age, kids and kids-at-heart will enjoy these places that mix history with fun. VisitBritain’sjourney planner suggests visitors spend the second day in London at the following sites.

London’s Science Museum is known all over the world for its historic collections and inspirational exhibitions.  Some fantastic exhibitions include “The Science of Spying”, “Inside the Spitfire” and “The Big Bang”.  Visit the IMAX 3D Cinema, where you can see stunning 3D adventures like “Dinosaurs Alive! 3D” and “Deep Sea 3D”.

Other things to see and do near the Science Museum:

Natural History Museum

Victoria & Albert Museum

Buckingham Palace
The next stop on your itinerary is one of my favorites – Madame Tussauds, where you can get up close and personal with famous celebrities like Brad Pitt, Kylie Minogue, and Jennifer Lopez.  And don’t forget the Planetarium, where kids can enjoy galaxies and saucers fly by.

Sherlock Holmes Museum on Baker Street in London

Some other suggested things to add to your day:

Sherlock Holmes Museum

Regent’s Park

Whenever we are in a big city like London, I like to take the kids to the zoo.  The London Zoo has daily penguin and lion feedings and offers a chance to meet the monkeys in a giant enclosure designed to recreate the Bolivian rainforest.  Take advantage of as many up-close and personal activities like the feedings, as those are the memories that stick with kids.

At the end of your day, take your family for a relaxing meal in a family-friendly restaurant. Situated in London’s famous Camden Town, Marine Ices is very popular with locals. Opened in 1930, Marine Ices serves delicious, freshly prepared Italian food, but is most famous for its specialty ices – thought by many to be the best in London.
