Portland, Oregon Streetcar

Federal stimulus money continues to be given out monthly to various cities and states in order to improve their infrastructure.

One such location is Portland, Oregon, which plans to put the much needed money to good use.

Stumptown will receive $23 million and has stated it will use the cash to upgrade the streetcars along the Waterfront area.

The Portland streetcar system, which first constructed a single line in 2001, has already started work on their second city line. The Portland streetcar system is the first in the United States to use new vehicles since World War II.

The Portland plan is one of 51 projects that are underway throughout the country thanks to $1.5 billion in aid that has been granted toward new transportation.
