Travel has become a bit of a hassle these days. What with such annoyances as long security lines and airline delays, arriving at an airport can sometimes feel more like an appointment to the dentist.

But believe it or not people do enjoy some airports more than others. The latest J.D. Power and Associates survey revealed that Detroit Metro International Airport in Michigan scored very favorable with customers.

Officials at Detroit Metro were honored yet stunned by the news since their airport ranked twelfth when the same survey was taken two years ago.

Rounding out the top 5 most liked airports were Denver International Airport, Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport, Orlando International Airport and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

Meanwhile the least popular hubs on the list were New York’s John F. Kennedy International, Philadelphia International Airport, Miami International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport and in dead last Newark Liberty International in New Jersey.

The study surveyed more than 12,000 people who flew round-trip flight between January and December 2009.
