Canadians Postpone Flight Due to Hockey Game CheapOair Staff March 12, 2010 general Hockey is Canada's #1 sport Oh Canada…they sure do love their hockey. How much you ask? During the amazing Canada-USA gold medal final ice hockey match during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, passengers refused to board an Air Canada plane because the game had not ended yet. Calin Rovinescu, the chief executive of Air Canada stated, "We incurred a flight delay for a reason Air Canada had not yet encountered in over 72 years of existence." Canada's largest airline had to delay the flight until the hockey loving fanatics saw the outcome of the game which had Canada beat USA in overtime 3-2 in overtime. This was the first time that a host nation had won the gold in hockey in 30 years. Makes you wonder what would have happened to that flight if Canada would have lost? Source: Reuters
