Beautiful Banaue in the Philippines

With just a population of 21,448, the city of Banaue in the Ifugao province of the Philippines is both a tranquil and unique destination to visit.

What this tiny town is mostly known for is the Banaue Rice Terraces. Nicknamed the “Eighth Wonder of the World” by locals, the terraces were carved into the mountains of Ifugao 2,000 years ago.

Now considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is said that the lengthy terrace clusters could span half the globe if placed end to end.

Book airline tickets to Manila, which is the closest airport to Banaue, and be sure to bring your hiking boots as this is not a trip for the laid back traveler.
