Clear Speedy Airport Security System to Relaunch CheapOair Staff May 4, 2010 general Clear stations at airports making a comeback Remember Clear? It was the program that was designed to help passengers whisk through airport security faster. Well just as quickly as Clear arrived, it was gone due to the company going bankrupt last year. But new plans have it returning to airports by the fall after Clear was taken over by Alclear in a $6 million acquisition. Some issues arose when Clear was first on the scene, including concern over personal data being given out to the Transportation Security Administration members in order for customers to get through airport security faster. Roughly 160,000 previous members of Clear will be contacted over the next few weeks by Alclear with the option of renewing their subscription, which costs $179 per year for unlimited use, or having their personal data cleared from the system. Enrollment for new members will start later this summer. Source: Associated Press Flickr: phrenologist
