Malev named best Eastern European carrier

 

At the 2010 World Airline Awards, which were held in Hamburg, Germany, Malev Hungarian Airlines was named best Eastern European carrier. The award was handed out by the Chairman of Skytrax Edward Plaisted and votes were tabulated from more than 17.9 million air travelers from over 100 different countries between July 2009 and April 2010. The awards are recognised around the world by industry experts as the only truly global, independent passenger survey of airline standards.

 

Commenting on the award to Malev Hungarian Airlines, Mr. Plaisted said, "This is a fantastic achievement for Malev, and they are clearly meeting and exceeding their customers’ expectations to have been named Best Airline Eastern Europe. The awards are true recognition of the front-line product and service that Malev is delivering to customers, and the award slogan of 'The Passenger's Choice' underlines the fact that Malev is succeeding in satisfying the hardest critics – their users."

 

Established in 1999, the World Airline Awards are based on the annual World Airline Survey which includes over 200 airlines, including the largest international airlines to smaller domestic carriers, throughout the world. The survey includes more than 100 different nationality of air traveler and measures 38 different customer satisfaction items. People involved in the survey assess typical customer experience from the airport to onboard and rate seat comfort on a plane, cabin cleanliness, food and beverages, inflight entertainment and many other aspects of air travel.
