According to an article in USA Today Friday, three of the United States' most popular vacation destinations are expecting mant tourists to visit them this summer.

With the summer travel season upon us, cities like New York, Las Vegas and Orlando are hoping for some much needed foot traffic and more importantly tourism dollars. 

Las Vegas has seen their visitor numbers drop over the last few years, with 36.3 million people gambling in Sin City in 2009, down significantly from the 39.1 million people that spent time in the desert in 2007. Las Vegas Tourism expects 37.5 million visitors in 2010.

New York City is hoping to match 2009 and welcome 12 million people to the Big Apple during the summer months. Tourism in New York is a $30 billion a year business and even with a great recession, NYC is still the most visited city in the United States. For the first time in 20 years, New York was named the most popular U.S. destination for American travelers.

Orlando is hoping that Harry Potter can sprinkle a little magic on O-Town tourism this summer with the opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter June 18 at Universal's Islands of Adventure. Orlando's visitors have cooled off in recent years since 2006's record breaking attendance that saw 51 million people.
