In a new partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts, over 600 museums are providing free admission to military families for duration of the summer.

Included in this list of museums is New York’s Museum of Modern Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, as well as science centers, children’s museums and other educational sites spread out over the U.S.

Blue Star Museums is the name of the program and it will be announced on Monday in San Diego where 14 museums will participate. The offer runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Some feel the offer will help to make military families feel more welcomed and appreciated.  The Defense Department is also helping to promote the program.
