Spirit Airlines will be back in business Friday after almost a week of strikes from the pilots union. The Air Line Pilots Associations said late Wednesday that a deal has been agreed upon, which will mean planes start flying Friday.

Capt. Sean Creed, leader of the Spirit unit of ALPA said in a statement Wednesday: “This agreement provides increases in pay and
retirement benefits, protects our work rules, and ensures our job
security at Spirit. After four days on the picket line, this agreement
also gets this pilot group and this airline back where it belongs-in
the air.”

The Miramar, Fla., budget
carrier represents less than 1% of the country’s annual passenger
traffic and flies 150 flights daily mostly from the Northeast to tropical locations in the Caribbean.
