The House subcommittee on aviation held the sometimes controversial hearing to consider a U.S. Government Accountability Office statement on the fees airlines have charged in recent years on services that were considered part of ticket prices. Optional service fees are not fully disclosed to passengers at the time of booking, said a summary of the report which also stated that airlines reported revenue of $7.9 billion from baggage fees and reservation alteration and cancellation fees from 2008-2009.
