Icelandair and Alaska Airlines Announce Codeshare Agreement CheapOair Staff July 29, 2010 general A new codeshare agreement was announced Thursday between Icelandair, Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air. The new partnership will include a reciprocal frequent flier program. Under the codeshare agreement, Icelandair will be able to place their code on certain Alaska and Horizon Air flights. The new frequent flier partnership will debut this fall and will let Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan members earn and redeem their miles on Icelandair flights between Seattle, Iceland and throughout Europe. Commenting on the new codeshare agreement, Alaska Airlines' director of customer loyalty and marketing programs Rick Rasmussen stated: “Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air are delighted to welcome Icelandair as our newest Mileage Plan and codeshare partner." Rasmussen added, “Icelandair offers affordable and convenient options for our customers to earn or redeem miles for travel to Iceland and beyond through their easy connections to popular European destinations.” Icelandair is feeling pretty good about the agreement as well, with the company's general manager for the Americas commenting, “As we celebrate one year of service from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, we are pleased to strengthen the bridge for West Coast travelers wanting to explore Europe.
