Yellowstone National Park is more popular than ever.

The park proclaimed Wednesday that it set a new monthly record for visits during July, with more than 957,000 people passing through the park.

That’s close to 60,000 more than last July, when the park’s prior monthly record was set.

July is normally the park’s busiest time, followed by August, June, September and May.

Yellowstone is on its way to meeting or exceeding last year’s record year. Close to 3.3 million visitors set foot in the National park in 2009.

Traffic for 2010 has increased by 5.8 percent so far over the last year.
