Newark airport during January evacuation incident caused by a kiss

Last winter Newark Liberty International Airport was shut down and evacuated over a kiss.

That's because Rutger University doctoral student Haisong Jiang snuck underneath a rope at the airport and proceeded through a restricted area in order to give his gal pal one more smooch goodbye.

Aw how romantic…and stupid. Because that lip lock not only shut down one of the country's busiest airports, it wound up costing Jiang 100 hours of community service, $658 in local fines and an undisclosed fine by federal authorities. 

Newark was shut down for six hours on January 3 due to the incident. With this federal fine, the case has now been officially closed.
