Massive China Traffic Jam Enters Ninth Day CheapOair Staff August 23, 2010 general Heavy traffic causing massive delays in China Heavy traffic, road work and break-downs have caused an absolute travel nightmare in China, with a massive traffic jam entering its ninth day. Vehicle traffic has been brought to a screeching halt, with the jam backed up as much as 62-miles outside of Beijing, according to local media reports. Drivers have been complaining of price gouging, with locals over-charging for food and drink to the stuck passengers. Road work is necessary and is expected to last through mid-September. The road affected by the traffic are mostly used by lorries transporting coal from Inner Mongolia. The Global Times reports that the traffic stretches between Jining in Inner Mongolia and Huai'an in Hebei province, north-west of Beijing.
