AA Mechanics reject new offer

American Airlines’ mechanics voted close to 2 to 1 refusing a contract offer from the carrier and allowing their union to take action including the declaration of a strike.

After votes were counted on Tuesday night, the Transport Workers Union claimed the contract offer by American did not make up for wage cuts that employees took in 2003. 

The union said, 80 percent of mechanics cast ballots, with the offer losing 6,074 to 3,371.
