Australia Footing the Bill for $2.7 Million Oprah Trip CheapOair Staff September 15, 2010 general 1 Comment Oprah will host several shows at the famous Opera House Oprah Winfrey’s generous gift to 300 fans, an all inclusive trip to Australia, is actually being paid for by the State of New South Wales and Australia tourism department. The two groups will be dishing out a total of $2.7 million for the trip, which celebrates Oprah’s 25th and final season of the Oprah show. Despite disapproval from taxpayers, the state’s politicians insist the trip will bring in a great amount of visitors to their shores. Tourism Minister Martin Ferguson states, “I think it’s money well spent. This truly represents an amazing opportunity to showcase Australia, the warmth and hospitality of our people… Tourism Australia is finally getting it together.
