This past summer Travel Leisure readers were asked to rank 35 U.S. cities on such categories as culture, shopping, restaurants and nightlife. The results are in and they include some interesting responses. Check out how tourists and locals ranked certain popular travel destinations.

Best Fall Destination:  Savannah, Georgia. (Runners up included Charleston, South Carolina; Providence, Rhode Island; and Portland, Maine)

Best Overall Cultural Destination: New York, New York. (Runners up included Washington DC; Boston, Massachusetts; and Chicago, Illinois) 

Best Affordable Hotels: Nashville, Tennessee. (Runners up included Salt Lake City, Utah; Houston, Texas; and San Antonio, Texas)

Cleanest Destination: Salt Lake City, Utah. (Runners up included Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota; Portland, Oregon; and Denver, Colorado) 

Best Luxury Shopping: New York, New York. (Runners up included Las Vegas, Nevada; Chicago, Illinois; and Los Angeles, California)
