Passenger John Tyner received a refund for his flight and did not travel after refusing a body scan and pat-down. The traveler opted not to walk through a full body scanner and then decided that he didn’t want a pat-down either, claiming the pat-down was “sexual assault” because the front of the hand is now used as it is placed inside of the thighs in an intimate screening method.

Tyner was told that the intimate pat-down is not considered “sexual-assault” to which he replied, “It would be if you weren’t the government.” Secretary of Homeland Security defended the modified pat-downs and body scanners.

Tyner is not alone in feeling uncomfortable with the hi-tech privacy invasion and modified pat-downs. A group called Flyer’s Rights is organizing a petition against the enhanced scanners and pat-downs.
