As the economy slowly recovers from the recession of the past two years, holiday travel is also on the rebound as AAA predicts a 3.1 percent jump in traffic during the Christmas to New Year’s period.

The group said Wednesday in a release that over 92.3 million people are expected to travel 50 miles or more during the holiday season.

AAA also said median spending should increase by 3.5 percent when compared to last year. So how will these millions of travelers get from point a to point b?

AAA is reporting a majority of people will hit the road to reach their final destination, with 2.8 million people going up in the air for their holiday travel.

AAA compiles data based on economic forecasts and Globle Insight research.
