British Airways, American Airlines and Iberia Expand Codeshare Flights CheapOair Staff December 17, 2010 general More codeshare flights will become available from British Airways, American Airlines and Iberia via their trans-Atlantic partnerships. The three carriers joined forces in October to work closely together on trans-Atlantic flights without breaking any U.S. foreign ownership laws. British Airways and Iberia merged earlier this year to create Europe's third-largest airline. According to an Associated Press report, "the carriers said Friday they are adding 317 codeshare flights to the 2,700 codeshares already operating between North America and Europe." Codeshare agreements make it easier for airlines to sell tickets on each other's flights and combine frequent flyer points. It's a plus for consumers as they can look around for the best possible fare available. The new codeshare flights will go into effect on December 20.
