AirTran has earned the nod of safest airline in the U.S. based on a report put together by USNews.com.

AirTran Airways reported the least amount of incidents in 2010.

The airline took 255,500 flights in 2010 and only had a handful of incidents.

The top five safest airlines according to the report went like this:

1.    AirTran
2.    Southwest Airlines
3.    US Airways
4.    Continental Airlines
5.    Delta Airlines
