A new plan has been proposed and is being discussed by city and federal officials to help shrink the security lines of tourists looking to visit the Statue of Liberty.

The new proposal would allow the visitors to be screened on Ellis Island instead of clogging up Manhattan’s Battery Park; the same would go for those coming from Liberty State Park in New Jersey. Those looking to just visit Ellis Island would not have to be checked by security.

New York Police would like to go over any consequences the changes may bring according to their spokesman.
