Virgin America to Fly Out of Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport This Spring CheapOair Staff February 17, 2011 general Virgin America will finally land in Chicago on May 25 After years of lobbying, Virgin America will finally land in Chicago’s O’Hare International airport this spring. The airline will offer daily non-stop service from O’Hare to Los Angeles and San Francisco starting May 25. The California-based carrier announced the new flights in a press release Thursday morning. Extremely popular with business travelers, Virgin America has been trying to find a spot in the country’s second busiest hub since 2008. A recent deal made by the city of Chicago opened up several gates in O’Hare’s Terminal 3, leading many to speculate Virgin America service was imminent. Virgin America CEO David Cush praised the city of Chicago for making the deal happen, saying, "Mayor Daley and the airport have shown tremendous vision by investing in (O'Hare's) future and by helping to open up access to new competition.” Source: Chicago Business
