New Orleans International Airport Sets Post-Katrina Traffic Record CheapOair Staff March 3, 2011 general Louis Armstrong International saw its best year since Katrina in 2010 Officials at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport reported that 2010 marked the best year for traffic since Hurricane Katrina devastated the city back in 2005. Last year’s passenger volume increased five points to just over 8.1 million, compared to about 7.8 million in 2009. December alone saw a 4.7 percent increase over 2009 with nearly 667,000 passing through the hub for the month.
