JetBlue & Virgin Atlantic team up

 

Low-cost carrier JetBlue Airways and Virgin Atlantic, announced a new transatlantic interline
partnership Tuesday. Starting today, passengers can connect from London, Glasgow and Manchster on Virgin onward to domestic flights with JetBlue serving such top destinations as Baltimore, Charlotte, Chicago, San Diego, Tampa, and San Juan, Puerto Rico. 

 

According to a press release, the airlines will interline in the following Virgin Atlantic-operated transatlantic markets that depart from JetBlue's Boston, New York, Washington and Orlando focus cities:

 

  • BostonLondon (Heathrow)
  • New York (Kennedy) – London (Heathrow)
  • OrlandoGlasgow
  • OrlandoLondon (Gatwick)
  • OrlandoManchester
  • Washington (Dulles) – London (Heathrow)


Scott Resnick, JetBlue's director of airline partnerships, said in a statement about the new partnership, "JetBlue is pleased to begin interline service with a transatlantic leader of Virgin Atlantic's caliber."

 

He added, "With its focus on
cultivating a distinctive brand and creating a customer experience that
travellers prefer, Virgin Atlantic shares a similar philosophy with
JetBlue. We look forward to welcoming their customers to the growing
JetBlue network and to giving ours more options to the U.K."

JetBlue", said Edmond Rose,
Director of Commercial and Revenue Planning for Virgin Atlantic.
" This partnership will offer Virgin Atlantic passengers a
streamlined journey between our four U.K. airports and many cities
across the U.S. and Puerto Rico, enjoying the highest standards of service throughout their travels."

 

With this agreement, passengers can buy single itineraries that combine JetBlue and Virgin Atlantic travel. This opens new travel options to customers on both carriers. It also means people will only have to check bags and be ticketed once for their flight originating with JetBlue or Virgin Atlantic.  The new agreement goes into effect this week.
