The Associated Press is reporting that the tsumani caused about $22 million in private property damage and $8.5 million in government property damages earlier this month. Gov. Neil Abercrombie is going to request federal disaster aid from President Obama according to his spokeswoman. Abercrombie wants federal assistance to help fix public structures such as roads and piers, which were badly damaged by the massive waves on March 11. The U.S. Small Business Administration will provide low-interest loans to businesses that suffered damages from the tsunami.
